Mission

Fulcrum Point New Music Project pushes the boundaries of the musical experience globally by supporting new compositions, creating and performing transformative new music Programs, and educating audiences of all ages and backgrounds to imagine the possibilities of music.

Vision

Fulcrum Point New Music Project empowers artists and communities to create new art music that enriches people’s lives and brings about a more empathic world.

Removing Barriers

Fulcrum Point is dedicated to lowering the barriers to participation in our presentations. Our virtual events are always free of charge, and a percentage of our programs in front of audiences are free as well. We strive to keep the cost of admission to ticketed events low and provide both discounted and complimentary tickets to students and those of limited income.

Standing in Solidarity

We at Fulcrum Point New Music Project are deeply saddened and outraged by the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor who, amongst too many others throughout the history of our nation, were unjustly targeted and killed. We stand in solidarity and alliance with the Black community and all people of color as we mourn these deaths and protest the systemic inequities of our nation.

As musicians we don’t claim to have the answers to society’s problems, but we do hold the capacity to listen, learn, and express the joy and suffering of our world. From its inception Fulcrum Point has embraced diverse, new art music from around the world with the intention of bridging cultural divisions and celebrating all musical traditions. We are grateful to our advisors, partners and curators--Steve Bynum, Tania León, Kahil El’Zabar, Wynton Marsalis, Seth Parker Woods, Shawn Okpebholo, Dalia Chin and Angel Bat Dawid--who have shared their wisdom and vision, which have shaped our programming for 22 years.

We at Fulcrum Point are committed to listen deeply, REFLECT UPON WHAT WE LEARN, and use our platform to give voice to artists of all races and creeds, those who empower and inspire us all to create community and bring the world together.

We must do more. We must do better.
