Fulcrum Point New Music Project, Chicago’s leader in New Art Music led by Stephen Burns, and in partnership with Mesirow Financial Presents!, proudly announces “I WAS LIKE, WOW!” a benefit concert and reception. Over the past three years, Mesirow Financial Presents! has featured nine Chicago-based arts organizations at its fundraising performances, with 100% of the proceeds raised directly benefiting the participating nonprofits.
The performance will be a mind-blowing combination of Warhol inspired music videos by Dutch avant-pop artist Jacob TV with the funky string quartet music of Jessie Montgomery, and culminating with audience participation; a dynamic African drumming circle featuring Tonti Elementary School students and Fulcrum Point’s Sound Tracks teaching artists.
With thousands of performances worldwide, Jacob TV is one of the most prolific living composers. His experimental approach combines video and music to create a completely new style of Avant-Pop. At our benefit concert, we will feature Close Fight, Garden of Love, and the namesake of the concert, I WAS LIKE, WOW!
All proceeds will benefit Sound Tracks, Fulcrum Point’s in-school education programs, serving students at Chicago Public Schools with little or no music education. The program is designed to introduce 4th and 5th graders to global cultures through world and new music, dance, geography, topography, arts and architecture.
Tickets for “I WAS LIKE, WOW!” are $150 and are available at fulcrumpoint.brownpapertickets.com or by calling 312-726-3846.
