In celebration of 14 years and the 5th anniversary of our Sound Tracks educational program, Fulcrum Point New Music Project announces its annual benefit concert with special guests Sones de México Ensemble, young musicians and dancers from ChiArts High School, and our own Sound Tracks Plus students from Waters Elementary School!
The program will celebrate Latin music from Mexico, Spain and the Andes with the Mid-west Premiere of Rapsodia Andina by Gabriela Lena Frank, flamenco dancer Chiara Mangiameli in Carlos Surinach’s Ritmo Jondo, a modernist take on celebratory Aztec ritual music in Carlos Chávez’s Xochipilli, Chicagoan Gustavo Leone’s modernist variation on Mexican rhythms and sonorities in Mobiles, and a festive finale!
Net proceeds will benefit Fulcrum Point’s Sound Tracks educational outreach program which serves 800 Chicago Public School students.
Location: Harris Theater for Music and Dance
