Dileep Gangolli, Clarinet

Dileep Gangolli is active in the Midwest as both a teacher and performer. Prior to establishing his career in Chicago, he was a member of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra for nine seasons, from 1979-1988. He frequently appears with many of leading ensembles including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Sinfonietta, and Fulcrum Point New Music Project. He is a former faculty member of North Park University and the University of Puget Sound. As a member of Present Music, a contemporary music ensemble based in Milwaukee, he participated in several national and international tours and residencies.

Mr. Gangolli has earned music degrees from Northwestern University, Southern Methodist University, and the University of Washington. His private clarinet instructors include Robert Marcellus, Anthony Gigliotti, and Ronald Phillips. In 1986, he was awarded a Fulbright Grant to the United Kingdom to study authentic Classical-era performance practice. Mr. Gangolli was a member of the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra from 1975 ­ 1977. An avid performer of chamber music, Mr. Gangolli has appeared at several international festivals including the BVI Music Festival, the Interlink Festival of Contemporary Music, the Istanbul Contemporary Music Festival, the Bay Chamber Concerts, the Da Camera Society Concerts, and as a guest artist with the Chicago Chamber Musicians. As a member of the North Park Chamber Players, he performed on numerous WFMT live broadcasts and outreach concerts. He has been a repeat performer on the prestigious Dame Myra Hess recital series. In 2001, he founded the Sheridan Chamber Players, an ensemble dedicated to chamber music performances for audiences of all ages and listening experience.

Dileep is married to Catherine Brubaker, a violist in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and they reside in Evanston, IL with their daughter, Asha, and son, Samir.
